we desire to pass on to our children. Clyde was a man of faith. From the eyes of one of his young 14 year old grandsons Keith Puffenbarger, here are some qualities that he has shared.
- Faithful – to his God, church, family, friends and clients
- He loved all of his family. He loved Christmas
- He was kind and willing to help. He would pick up widows/widowers and take them to church.
- He enjoyed his insurance work and was a good provider. He told me he wished he would have started insurance when he was younger. He started at the age of 54.
- He was controlling. He wouldn’t let me mix the Hershey’s syrup with my milk. He had to do it because he didn’t want to be wasteful.
- He could be argumentative with Grandma. That was probably out of some frustration. Typical married stuff.
- He was a wonderful Grandfather. He picked me up in Washington, DC at a Senators baseball game in the 1960’s. I was with thousands of Little Leaguers. He had to find a team with blue hats (hundreds of kids with that color hat). I had a blue hat and it took him until the 7th inning to find me! Then I got to sit with him behind home plate! Grandaddy was persistent. He loved our picnics and birthdays at the park. He was a good cook. He roasted the best hot dogs ever over an open fire.
- He enjoyed a cigar and fishing for sunnys.
- When I was with Grandaddy I felt safe, secure and loved. He always made me feel special when I spent time with him and Grandma.
